Charles Leclerc crowned GP3 Champion in Yas Marina!

Race 1:

Alexander Albon set pole position and kept this advantage when the race started while his teammate and championship leader Charles Leclerc lost a few places during the first lap. Albon had to fight hard with Jack Aitken to keep the lead but the two drivers collided after Alexander hit the kerb. The Thai driver was out of the race as Nyck de Vries found himself leading the race and defending from Jake Dennis 6 laps to the end of the race.

Charles Leclerc who was running in 4th position ran wide and had to stop his car on the track side. Nirei Fukuzumi managed a good race and crossed the line in P5.
Nyck de Vries took his second win of the season and Charles Leclerc claimed the GP3 driver title with Alex Albon being the 2016 runner-up. The two rookie drivers made a really solid and impressive season and have been fighting for the championship lead since the first race in Barcelona.

Race 2:

Nirei Fukuzumi moved to second place from 4th on the grid but lost a positions a few meters away. Nyck de Vries did not have the start he was hoping for and was dropped to 13th as Charles Leclerc was up to 14th.
The safety car came out during the first lap after Alexander Albon crashed into the barrier after being collided by another driver.

When the track was clear, Charles Leclerc overtook his teammate Nyck de Vries who then made contact with Antonio Fuoco but managed to keep the advantage on the Italian driver. Fuoco got past Nyck a few laps later as the battle was still on.
Nirei Fukuzumi was under huge pressure from Jake Dennis for the podium but resisted and remained 3rd until the end of the race. This is the Japanese’s third podium of the season.

ART Grand Prix already crowned Team Champion in Monza, celebrates their fourth driver title with Charles Leclerc.
