Sebastian Fernandez completes ART Grand Prix 2020 FIA F3 line-up

ART Grand Prix is delighted to make its third and final driver announcement for the upcoming 2020 FIA Formula 3 season. After Alexander Smolyar and Théo Pourchaire were recently confirmed, the French squad now welcomes Venezuelan-Spanish driver Sebastian Fernandez.

The 19-year-old driver from Caracas, Venezuela, brings with him a rich and wide range of racing experience, as he has competed in no less than seven championships since he first appeared in single-seater racing back in 2016.
Sebastian secured several wins and podium finishes in Formula 4 Spain, ADAC, Italy and UEA in 2016/17 before moving up to Euro F3 then contesting a double programme in 2019 with the new Eurocup Formula Renault and the FIA Formula 3 series.

Sebastian raced for ART Grand Prix in the FIA F3 World Cup in Macau, after making a good impression on the team during the Valencia tests in October, where he drove alongside F3 race winner Christian Lundgaard.

Sebastian Fernandez:
“I am very excited and grateful for the opportunity to work with a team which has such a strong trajectory for the 2020 season. I have already worked with them at the Macau GP and the Valencia tests, where I felt really good. With a team like ART Grand Prix I believe together we can achieve some very good results in the upcoming season.”

Sébastien Philippe:
“Sebastian is only 19 years old but he already has a vast experience in motorsport and in particular, F3. This experience is a major asset in such a cutting-edge championship. His first appearance in Macau was solid, he made progress all weekend. During the Valencia tests, he showed the team that he listens well and that he can work diligently with all the members of the team to make the best of his skills. In 2020, he will have all he needs to be regularly in the points and fighting with the front runners”.
