F2 // Points, Progress and Frustration in Imola!

Qualifying

  • Once again in outstanding form, Victor had pole position within his grasp, but the unpredictable nature of motorsport saw him miss out by just six thousandths of a second, finishing third.
  • Ritomo made significant progress to claim tenth on the grid, earning pole position for the Sprint Race.

Sprint Race

  • A brilliant start propelled Victor from eighth to fifth. He overtook Ritomo in the closing laps and finished just one second shy of the podium.
  • Ritomo fought hard to stay with the frontrunners and was rewarded with points for sixth place.

Feature Race

  • Victor stalled on the grid. Pushed into the pits for a restart, he rejoined well behind the pack, matched the race winner’s pace, and climbed back to twelfth.
  • Ritomo’s alternate strategy was undone by the safety car timing, dropping him from fourth to sixteenth at the finish.

Ritomo Miyata

“It was my first time starting from pole position in Formula 2, and I was determined to give everything to resist some very strong rivals. I was battling for a podium until mid-race and set some excellent lap times, but tire degradation became challenging towards the end. In the Feature race, ART Grand Prix’s strategy put me up to third, but the safety car wiped out our efforts. I’m proud to have scored my first points for ART Grand Prix.”

Sébastien Philippe

“Victor was unfortunate with an interrupted qualifying session, but he gathered valuable data and secured important points in the Sprint race, showing composure despite starting from the lower end of the top ten. Ritomo had excellent pace, though a few small mistakes cost him a couple of positions; nonetheless, he still scored his first points and continued his development. The Feature race couldn’t have been more disappointing, with Victor stalling on the grid and Ritomo’s strategy completely undone by the safety car. Despite it all, we’re fast both in qualifying and the races, which bodes well for Monaco, where we hope for a bit of luck that has eluded us so far this season.”
