F2 Silverstone – Round 07

Qualifying

ART Grand Prix built strong momentum throughout the qualifying session, making consistent progress and delivering its best performance when both the track and the car were at their optimum. Kush missed out on a front-row start by just one thousandth of a second, qualifying third, while Tasanapol produced a composed final run to secure sixth place.

Sprint Race

Tasanapol lost three positions on the opening lap but fought back impressively to finish fifth, just behind Kush. The Indian driver gained three places in the opening lap and came within less than a second of the podium.

Feature Race

Kush made a spectacular start, taking the lead into the first corner before opening a gap over his rivals. He held onto the lead until the final third of the race, when tyre degradation began to take its toll. He managed the wear effectively and brought the car home in third place. Running the same strategy as Kush, Tasanapol had to stay out for one extra lap before making his pit stop, even though his tyres were already showing significant signs of wear. As a result, he lost a few positions after a strong opening stint but still secured a top-10 finish.

Kush MAINI

“The car was great all weekend long. We were able to fight for pole, but it’s always tricky to put everything together at Silverstone. Starting from P8 in the Sprint Race and P3 in the Feature Race put us in good positions, as I made two very strong starts. In the Sprint Race, I fought all the way to the finish for a podium. We came up just short ! On Sunday, once I took the lead, I quickly pulled out of DRS range, but the soft tyres suffered heavy degradation from around lap five. I tried to manage them during the second long stint, but I lacked traction and became a sitting duck for Toslov and Villagómez. Anyway, the team’s strategy helped me finish third, so I’m proud of all the hard work they put in.”
