Tough weekend for F2 in Jeddah!

Qualifying

  • 3rd in free practice, despite a session disturbed by red flags, Victor quickly found his feet and confirmed his pace with 4th place in qualifying.
  • Zak finished 14th, less than half a second behind Victor.

Sprint Race

  • Zak almost stalled on the grid and fell back to P20, but then drove a solid race, moving up to 16th place before having to retire in the final kilometres with a mechanical problem.
  • Victor made up a place at the start but was also forced to retire due to a broken suspension after he was pushed into a wall.

Feature Race

  • Victor lost three places at the start and was never able to get into a good rhythm with the two different tyre specifications. He gradually dropped down the field but managed to secure a single point with a 10th place finish.
  • Zak got off to a good start, but also struggled to maximize his car’s potential. Out of the points, he retired following a spin with only two laps to go.

Sébastien Philippe:

“Jeddah is not an easy circuit for a rookie, but Zak did everything in his power to progress and gain more experience. Victor found some good pace in qualifying, showing a clear improvement compared to Bahrain, although we still struggled to get the best out of the new package. In the feature race, Victor was unable to exploit the potential of the hard and soft tires, and hie lost pace as a result. We have two weeks to analyze the data from Bahrain and Jeddah and understand how to find some more performance.”

Victor Martins:

“Jeddah is one of my favorite tracks, and we had a strong performance here last year. After the disappointment in Bahrain where we identified our issues, we were confident we were moving in the right direction. In Jeddah, we got closer to pole position, even though we were still missing nearly two-tenths. I started the Feature race without Sprint data, and that didn’t help, but during the race, the balance was not excellent, and we didn’t have good pace compared to our competitors.”
